In 2007, with nature and nostalgia as their guides, Jessica and Andy unveiled The Daytrip Society in Kennebunkport, Maine.
The inspiration for this endeavor came to them while living in New York City as they often escaped and took elaborate day trips to the countryside. They quickly developed a keen sense of what items and apparel best complement a day in nature. After working in the music industry for several years, they were both ready for a change. They left the big city and ventured back to their native Maine where their main goal was to opened a store to inspire, aid, and indulge in the art of the day trip.
Walking into The Daytrip Society is a trip in itself. Both Jessica and Andy take great care in producing the displays and aesthetics of the store.
Andy is a graphic designer who designs the company’s fresh and modern logos, apparel and custom products.
Jessica buys and conceptualizes the merchandising of the store. “My strongest skill set is probably in trend forecasting and finding new or classic products and artists that fit the design of the store,” Jessica said.
If you happen to venture to Kennebunkport, ME, don’t miss the Daytrip Society or their children’s store right down the street, Daytrip Jr. Our 25 Key My First Piano II is a perfect addition to the line of products they offer to fellow daytrippers. It’s both whimsical and a great example of wonderful craftsmanship.
You know they’re on to something when the store has been featured in magazines like Martha Stewart Living, Conde Nast Traveler, Anthology Magazine, and Coastal Living. Click here to browse their site and stay connected by liking their Facebook and following their Instagram and Pinterest!
Once you get to know Jessica and Andy, you’ll find that being a Daytripper is not a temporary frame of mind – it’s a way of life!
